The food flavour additive MSG is one of the best known food additives, with the dubious honour of causing food reactions in so many people! MSG stands for MonoSodium Glutamate, and is used to add or enhance flavour in many processed, pre-packaged foods and also in many restaurant foods. Due to it’s bad reputation among the general public, manufacturers often hide the presence of MSG in food, with false labelling giving the impression that the food is MSG-free when in fact, it is simply hidden under a different name.
